Continuous war

I had noticed but had not stopped to ponder about this déjàvu like similarity from the book 1984 compared to reality today. Then I listened to one of Dan Carling common sense episodes and it struck me. We are in a continuous war, like the society in the book 1984.

Ever since the beginning of the 20th century the general wars have superseded: Wold war I was followed by WW II which was followed by the cold war which is now followed by the war on terror. Also, wars have gotten ever more abstract with invisible adversaries.

Will it be to ensure continuous war?
